This is an innovative device for cats that constantly scarf down their food like there’s no tomorrow. I’m not really sure how this slow feeder is suppose to work. Is my cat suppose to butt the dispenser with her head in order for the dry kibbles to drop out? I’m not certain, but I put dry food inside the dispenser and my cat likes to sit by the feeder and meows until I shake it a few times and the dry food comes out and then she runs around eating all the dropped kibbles. (She’s so adorable). I tried showing her how to bat the feeder with her paws, or butt her head against it, but she has not grasp the concept yet. I did not want very much of the food to dispense all at once so I only opened up two of the small holes on the bottom of the dispenser. She runs around eating all of the dropped kibbles and then waits for me to wiggle it again so more of the food comes out. Perhaps that’s better than her learning to release the food herself otherwise she will eat the entire contents at one sitting. I also put some of her moist food on the feeder base and spread it around and this causes her to eat more slowly because It takes a little more time to grasp the food from the silicone base. Overall, this feeder is a nice product. It’s quick and easy to clean, however I wish that it was a little smaller in diameter. It’s clunky and gets in the way, but it is helping my cat to eat slower, and as a result she doesn’t vomit her food afterwards as much. The multiple suctions cups on the bottom of the feeder secures the feeder firmly to the floor, so it doesn’t move around.
