This works as expected and is a great value for the price. I suggest folding the flaps of the box it comes in inward to create a cover. You can then use this as a protective cover for the dial gauge when in storage. Both gauges I ordered are accurate.I used this to add pressure gauges for two vintage Mirro pressure canners. I used a 3/8" drill bit to drill the hole in the lid. I did not use the 1/2" to 3/8" silicone gasket that was included as it does not fit in a 3/8" hole (only 1/2"). The included metal nut (alone, without a washer or gasket) was enough to prevent leaking when gauge was screwed all the way in and the nut tightened flush against the inside of the lid, as far as it would go, without stripping the threads on the bolt. While the canner uses a weighted gauge to maintain pressure, I like have this dial gauge to see A) when the pressure in the cooker has dropped to zero and can be safely opened B) see the pressure climbing so I know how long it will be before it gets to the desired pressure C) additional visual feedback about what is going on inside the pot to verify that it is maintaining the correct pressure. This makes the Mirro similar in functionality to the more expensive All American.I would recommend this gauge especially for the price.
