I have a Chi-Weenie and a Doxie-Pin, both rescues, and both "inhalers" of any food.While neither has ever seriously choked (i.e, never to the point of needing assistance, thank goodness), I have always been worried about that because neither of them chew anything: they just swallow their bites whole. And their round bowls let them take some pretty big bites. I purchased these bowls in an effort to slow them down a bit - the design forces them to take much smaller bites.And it works - I'm thrilled!!! My anxiety level is lower thanks to these bowls, because they are now much less likely to have a serious choking incident from gulping the largest bites they can pack into their mouth at one time.I got this option because it came with more than one so that my dog will have a backup during times of cleaning and sanitizing. I also bought it for the shape, it looked complicated enough to slow my almost one yo lab mix down, and it is all true. He used to go through his bowl at record speed, never timed it but if I had to guess I would say it only took him about 30 seconds to a min, no kidding to woof down his meal. Now, it takes him upwards of ten mins, and he even stops sometimes and comes back to finish later. I am so glad it worked out because it has helped his stubborn self with his digestion as well. I would recommend at least as a starting point.My dogs eat wet real food and they always scarfed it down. With these bowls it makes them slow down. The 4 pack is great because while two are in the dishwasher I have two ready to go. Traction isn’t as good as I’d like, but I just put it in front of a wall.These slow feeders are just what my girls needed to slow down. They have less bloating and stomach upset. I was amazed at how much of a difference these made.There is no suction. They are just regular bowls with grooves in them so that it slows the dogs eating. It has served its purpose while my puppies were small. They have tripled in size since I got the bowls and can no longer use them because they are small, and you can only put about 3/4 cup of food in them. Otherwise we liked them.I have not used it yet but my dogs will love it.Can be little hard to get in all the grooves, which you will need to do if you serve wet food. Love that I don't have an audience at dinner anymore, lolThis bowl helped to slow my little dog down while eating. She would finish her food in 3 minutes or less, now it takes her upwards to 10 minutes or more to eat. And it has helped her digestive system because she's not scarfing down her good. I'd recommend getting this bowl if you have sprint eaters. ?
