Liz Bywater provides a terrific book that any leader or for that matter any employee can use to take back their lives. Slow Down to Speed Up is a sensible approach to dealing with our fast paced world that has gotten out of control for many of us.In my work as an organizational psychologist, the number one concern I hear from senior leaders is that there is not enough time for them to think, period. It is too easy to get caught in the whirlwind of work and then lose focus on what they are truly getting paid to do which is to consider strategy and where the best places are to grow their business.Liz's approach to help people slow down first by taking strategic pauses and looking at pivot points is right on target and the tools she provides are immediately usable in any work context. Once you are able to catch your breath, then the stage is set for speeding up and once again Liz provides practical ideas that any leader can use including her CIA concept (no, not that one), TERS (her email management system) and diplomatic ways to say no, (which everyone could use!)Liz's personal sharing and her stories about her client's successes and misses make this this book feel authentic and doable.
